New Internet Society policy briefing on zero-rating

Internet Society has released a zero-rating policy briefing that presents a set of “design principles”, intended toguaranteethat zero-rating services support an open, interoperable internet.

"For newspapers and media organizations, zero rating initiatives may represent an opportunity to reach new audiences. On the other hand they raise serious questions with regard to the requirements for newspapers to join, which in turn could have a harmful effect on the country’s information ecosystem,” says Konstantinos Komaitis, Senior Policy Advisor for Internet Society.

Internet Society participated in this year’s WAN-IFRA Global Media Policy Forum, which focused on the topic “zero-rating the news”.
